Guitars are the weapons, guitarist are the soldiers, and AX2GRIND is a global competition like the world has never beheld. We’re here to solicit instrumentalist from concert halls, basements, garages, schools, and clubs to audition for a global guitar competition. Mortals will vote online for the most innovative, expressive, and improvisational guitarist. Once the players are in place, we'll produce an interactive spectacle where the shredders who garnered the most online votes will duel it out, live on stage in (4) four regional head to head competitions, and a shot at the national competition where there's $10,000 in prizes, unvarnished bragging rights, and the AX2GRIND championship trophy.
WHY
To revive the guitar, and the rock guitarist to their rightful place as the driver of rock music. We defined electric guitar as the sweetest, and most revolutionary manmade device ever developed. Think of the sound that emanated from guitars before, then after Hendrix. The sound was undeniably innovative, and yet indescribable. Clearly a shift in how the world thought a guitar could sound. Absorbing Hendrix was beautifully confusing, and confounding as well. The inspired note bending emanating from his guitar made most of the popular guitar heroes of the time seem impotent, and just irrelevant. Since Hendrix there’s been many innovators like Beck, Cooder, Van Halen, Satriani, and Vie to mention just a few. Now is the appropriate time to expose the world to this one of a kind competition.
HOW
By auditioning the worlds most impressive shredders. The online audience will be asked to participate in this journey by voting for the guitarist that moves, and inspires them the most. The online votes will be tabulated to determine who’ll be part of the live competition, and there’ll also be two (2) judges choices as well. Once we’ve found the combatants, our crews will produce, and stream live an all out, no holds bard, head to head duel live on stage. We’re cutting heads baby!! All that is required of these gladiators is to be as creative, and inspired as their ability allows in a 90 second audition video. Then tell us a little bit about themselves, and a link to their web site, should they have one. It’s not required though, as the next phenom we’re searching for may not be known to mankind yet, or maybe they’ve been right there before us all along.
When reviewing your comments about the artists’ auditions, we’ll select (2) individuals who left the most creative comments to an all expenses paid trip to the competition. The AX-2-GRIND champion will be determined by a panel of professionals in the industry, selected members of the attending live audience, and voters watching the competition streamed online.
WHEN
The AX-2-GRIND live competitions will occur once we’ve accumulated a total of 500,000 online votes. Tentative locations are Grand Rapids, Los Angeles, London, New York, Nashville, Chicago, Seattle, Austin, New Orleans, and Las Vegas.
